Ready for a fresh start in warm and sunny paradise?

Life in Alicante

Whether you’re a young, single, digital nomad looking to network or a family looking to put down roots, Alicante has the perfect work life balance for everyone. If you live in the city and work from home or your office is central, you could pop to the beach on your lunch break or head to one of the thousands of bars and restaurants. Most have outdoor seating which is testament to the outdoor lifestyle we have here. In your spare time you can take a gentle stroll along the marina or beach, or go for a high intensity hike up one of the many mountains we have in the region.

Take the children to a theme park, take your partner for a cocktail, or grow your business at a networking event.

Climate

The old adage, ‘the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plane’ is true. It seldom rains in Alicante and when it does, it is usually the odd passing day in winter or even more rare, a summer storm. For the other 330 days a year, it is sun, sun, sun! It has been known to hit 30C in January, but even on the cooler winter days the sun still shines brightly and you can sit on the beach in a T-shirt. From March until November it is reliably warm but not too hot, with the exception of August, but summer holidays are not just for the children here, most companies give staff 2 weeks holidays in August and so you can join in with the locals and enjoy fiestas, and cool off with water-sports and relaxing on the beach.  Don’t forget the sunscreen, even if you arrive in winter!

Healthy Lifestyle

We have many hospitals here in Alicante, both private and public. All high class, clean, and accessible. There are sporting facilities for every type of exercise you would like to set your hand (or foot!) to. From outdoor ventures like beach volleyball or Nordic walking, mountain climbing or cycling. Watersports like scuba diving, stand-up paddle surfing, kayak, rowing and of course swimming. To indoor activities with an abundance of gyms. You could try padel, which is similar to tennis, boxing, or dance classes. If you fancy a more relaxed sport there are many golf courses in the region to choose from. Once you have worked up an appetite, head over to the Central Market and get yourself some local produce. Freshly caught seafood, locally grown fruit and vegetables, and cheese and other animal products being sold by local farmers.

Modern infrastructure

The transport links around the city are second to none. Locally, there are buses and a tram. If you are looking to go slightly further afield, there is a national rail service and an airport that can connect you with the whole of Europe and other world wide destinations and also connects with Madrid for international travel. For seafarers there is a beautiful marina and a ferry dock. You would also be hard pushed to find a city with less congestion on the roads. There is seldom a traffic jam and if you know where to look you can even find free parking. There is of course taxi services too, though all this may all be unnecessary if you are staying central, as Alicante is pedestrian friendly and the vast majority is walking distance.

Unspoilt Tradition

Walk from the modern marina along the beach then head into the old town. Amble along the cobbled streets and look at the detailed carving of the well cared for original buildings. Head up the hill to the castle and learn the history of the city, and then take a seat at the top and take in the breathtaking views. From here you can see all the way out to sea and spot some islands, up to the mountains which are snow capped in winter, across to the modern skyscrapers of the more northern cities in the region, and down to the farmland of the south. Alicante is not a case of old versus new, it is a bohemian meld of traditional values and beauty but with all modern amenities. You can set up roots in a modern urbanisation and shop in a market that has been trading for hundreds of years.
The old and new go together like sandcastles and ice cream.

Thriving Expat Community

No matter what walk of life you are from you will find a community for you. Every week there is a Meetup, social or support group to suit whatever you are looking for. Want to learn the language? Group Spanish classes. Speak a bit of another language and want to practice? There are multiple language exchanges. Want to try a new sport? There are many groups for that. Want to discover a fun hiking trail, there are groups of every intensity. Own a business? There are regular networking events. Single? Try speed dating. If you come here alone you won’t be alone for long. You will find a multicultural mix of like minded people and I’m sure someone who can point you in the direction of home comforts too. Turn up, feel welcome, and within the hour someone will have asked to exchange phone numbers to make future plans with you.  You’ll be a success and make friends wherever you go and whatever your hobbies are.

Well Connected to Other Major Cities

You are never short of things to do in Alicante, but if you fancy checking out other places, jump on the train or pack up the car, as Alicante is very well connected with other major cities by rail and motorway. We have direct connections with Madrid, Valencia, Murcia, and Benidorm to name but a few.

Also travel out to some of the beautiful towns and villages in Costa Blanca like Guadalest, Fonts De l’Algar, Villajoyasa, Altea, Cartagena and many more.

International Schools & Universities

With over 20 international schools offering the British, French, American and other education curriculums you have an array of options to choose what’s best for your child.

For higher education we have the  Alicante University and the Miguel Hernandez University in nearby Elche. In total they have 40,000 international students enrolled in them. They offer undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs in a wide range of fields. Alicante universities are known for their high-quality education and research, and many of them are internationally recognised for their contributions to various fields of study.

Undervalued Real Estate

Unlike other cities like Madrid & Barcelona property prices are still undervalued but rising. Now is the right time to get into the real estate market before it reaches same level as those cities.

With a surge of demand during the summer holidays and consistent throughout the year renting out properties in two cycles (short term on season & off season renting) can yield above 10% ROI annually

Our team can help you choose the right property for your families needs and even manage it throughout the year taking care of property rentals, key exchange, apartment cleaning & servicing.
